A powerful, well-proportioned molosser-type dog with a solid, muscular build. Calm and confident in demeanor, alert and watchful.

Head:

 

• Shape: Massive, broad, and cube-like.

 

• Skull: Slightly domed, flat between the ears.

 

• Stop: Moderate, not abrupt.

 

• Muzzle: Shorter than the skull, broad and strong.

 

• Nose: Black and large.

 

• Lips: Moderately thick; upper lip should not hang excessively.

 

• Teeth: Scissor or reverse scissor bite, strong jaws.

 

Eyes:

 

• Medium-sized, slightly oval, well-spaced.

 

• Dark to medium brown (darker preferred).

 

• Expression is alert and confident.

 

Ears:

 

• Set high, medium size, and may be natural (drooping or rose-shaped) or cropped (where legal).

 

Neck:

 

• Short to medium, thick and muscular, with some dewlap.

 

Body:

 

• Chest: Broad and deep, well-developed.

 

• Back: Strong, straight with slight rise over the loin.

 

• Loin: Broad and muscular.

 

• Croup: Slightly sloping.

 

• Abdomen: Slight tuck-up, firm.

 

Tail:

 

• Thick at the base, tapering to a point.

 

• Carried low in repose, raised in action (not curled over the back).

 

Coat:

 

• Short, flat, coarse to the touch.

 

• No undercoat or only slight.

 

• Color: All brindles (fawn to dark), fawn (light to red), black. A dark mask is typical and should not extend past the eyes. White markings are permissible on chest, throat, and feet but not excessive.

 

Gait / Movement:

 

• Agile and powerful, showing strength and purpose.

 

• Movement is balanced with a strong drive from the rear.

 

Temperament:

 

• Confident, calm, and self-assured.

 

• Natural guardian instinct without excessive aggression.

 

• Loyal and protective toward family, reserved with strangers.
